In his orchestral Armonica Jörg Widmann looks for harmony. The sounds of a glass harmonica dominate the opening and closing sections. In the course of its development, the piece gradually becomes rhythmically, melodically and dynamically more varied, as if on one huge breath or the “breathing in and out” of the accordion’s bellows.
