Nowakowska Urszula
is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in the harp class of Urszula Mazurek. She has taken part in masterclasses conducted by Isabelle Moretti, Kumiko Inoue, Helga Storck, Ursula Holliger, Mercedes Gomez and Isabelle Perrin, as well as participating in the jazz interpretation workshops of Jakez Francois, Park Stickney and Evelyn Huber. She has worked at perfecting her skills as a postgraduate student under Urszula Mazurek.
She made her debut as a soloist with a performance of J. Ch. Bach’s Concerto in D major at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw in 1996. In 2001 she was a member of the European Festival Orchestra, which accompanied the YES ensemble on its tour of Europe. In July 2006 she appeared with the famous hiphop performer Kanye West at the Open’er Festival in Gdynia. In June 2008 she took part in a concert by Sinfonia Varsovia with Nigel Kennedy, playing a part of one of the compositions in a duet with the famous violinist. As a member of the orchestra she has accompanied many famous soloists, such as Plácido Domingo, Martha Argerich, Kenny G, Dolores O’Riordan, Maxim Vengerov and Mietek Szcześniak. She has also appeared on TV programmes such as “Kawa czy herbata” (with Krzysztof Kolberger) and “Bądź mistrzem” (with Robert Korzeniowski).
Urszula Nowakowska appears as a soloist, in chamber ensembles, in orchestras and with choirs, performing both Classical and light music, as well as giving first performances of works by young Polish composers and playing film music. She performs at concerts and on various ceremonial occasions, such as the reception given by the President of the Polish Republic on the day of Poland’s entry into the European Union, or the presentation of prizes by the Minister of Culture.
