Chłopecki Andrzej
(born 1950). Musicologist, music theorist, musical critic and writer, modern music concert organiser and animator. He is a commentator on Polish Radio 2 and lecturer at the Music Academy in Katowice. He also lectures at the Theatre Academy in Warsaw and at postgraduate studies of the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Columnist for the 'Gazeta Wyborcza' daily. Member of the Polish Composers’ Union, the Programme Board of the National Audiovisual Institute and the 'MusikTexte' periodical in Cologne, the Programme Committee of the Warsaw Autumn Festival. Chairman of the Friends of Warsaw Autumn Foundation. Since 1994 he has programmed the contribution of the Polish Radio to the International Rostrum of Composers’ auditions, organised by the International Music Council. He has been artistic director of the following festivals: Velvet Curtain (Cracow 2000, Lviv 2006), Paweł Szymański Festival (Warsaw 2006), Musica Polonica Nova (Wrocław 2010). His accolades include the Gloria Artis Silver Medal (2005), Yearly Minister of Culture and National Heritage Award for cultural communication (2007), Polish Radio Golden Microphone (2008), as well as the Knight’s Cross of the Order for Merits to Lithuania (2006) and the Siemens Medal (2007).
