Dubelski, Richard
was born in the wings of the Alcazar de Marseille to a composer/ conductor father and an actress/singer mother. He followed in their footsteps, receiving a musical education (Premier Prix in Percussion at the CNR Rueil-Malmaison) and theatrical training (Atelier de Betty Rafaelli). is allows him now to conduct his multidisciplinary activities as director, actor, musician and composer.
In 1987, he met George Aperghis and began performing his works in various productions, remaining a close collaborator until 1992 and again since 2011. He has also collaborated with Thierry Bédard, Lucas Thiery, Edith Scob, Georges Appaix, André Wilms, Jean-Pierre Larroche, Thierry Roisin, Marcel Bozonnet, Serge Hureau, Joëlle Cattino, Antoine Gindt, and Sedef Ecer, among others.
In 1993, he decided to stage his first musical production with his company Corps à Sons Théâtre. Since that time, he has staged more than 20 shows, with this and many companies, receiving commissions from National Drama Centres and other institutions. Recently he cocreated Fissures ou le délabrement de la mémoire with Greg Beller.
He teaches various musical theatre courses and workshops at theatre academies (ERAC, École de la Comédie de Saint-Étienne, Atelier Volant T.N.T., and others) as well as the Centres Dramatiques Nationaux in France. In 2009 and 2010 he was the artistic and musical director as well as composer of Odyssées à l’Opéra, a Lyon Opera production with 350 amateur musicians, orchestra and children’s choir. In 2014, he composed an oratorio for 70 amateur performers to a text by Marcel Bozonnet, which was premiered at the Les Francophonies en Limousin in Limoges.
He also attended a course on 35mm lm realisation at the École Nationale Supérieure Louis Lumière, where he creates documentaries about theatrical creations, such as the 2008 short fiction lm Qui tu es? and Le dernier show, on musical artists of the past.
