Entrechoc - Bruno Mantovani
Entrechoc is a gestural, choreographic work, with diverse musical material in head-on confrontation, without transition. The work is made of two parts: the first features the woodwinds in a rhythmic unison that brings to mind the sounds of a big band, while the second is more contemplative, beginning with steady rocking quavers that evoke a lullaby. The orchestration is often very dense, with the brass proposing several “fanfares” at strategic points in the piece. In fact, I tried to create a form of art brut, music in blocks leaving little room for counterpoint.
Entrechoc is dedicated to Yasuaki Itakura.
