Droga między nutami (The Path Amongst Notes)
This film is a gift for the 80th birthday of Zygmunt Krauze, one of the most important artists of his generation: renowned composer, highly regarded pianist and teacher, music life organiser and juror of numerous international competitions.
The lm shows the composer in his study and during his work with students at the Łódź Academy of Music. In his home city, the composer takes us back on a sentimental journey to the time of his youth, and then to his beloved Paris. e lm was shot in Łódź, Cracow, Gdańsk, and Moscow. Naturally, the composer’s major inspirations—Strzemiński’s unism and Apollinaire’s dramatic orphism—are also discussed. Apart from Zygmunt Krauze’s own piano improvisations, the lm features works such as Piano Concerto no. 1, Piece for Orchestra no. 2, Nightmare Tango, and Six Folk Melodies, all performed by well-known ensembles, including the legendary Music Workshop.
The film will be followed by a meeting with Zygmunt Krauze conducted by Barbara Schabowska (Adam Mickiewicz Institute)
