Schafleitner, Sophie

Born in 1974 in Salzburg, she studied the violin with Irmgard Gahl at the Mozarteum University and Gerhard Schulz at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna where she later was assistant teacher to Schulz. She has been member of Klangforum Wien since 1997. She also performs internationally as a soloist and member of chamber music ensembles, appearing at renowned festivals such as the Donaueschinger Musiktage, Vienna Festival, Sacrum Profanum in Cracow, Wittener Tage für Neue Musik, Wien Modern, Munich Biennale, Salzburg Festival, and ManiFeste in Paris. Her engagements also include appearances in various music theatre productions.
