Unger, Mieczysław
He graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy in Katowice after studies with Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk and Jan Wincenty Hawel. He is currently completing his postgraduate studies with Wojciech Rodek at the Karol Lipiński Music Academy in Wrocław. He also took part in a conducting masterclass with Gabriel Chmura in Wrocław (2014). Working with the Silesian Opera in Bytom since 2012, he regularly conducts stagings of Johann Strauss’s The Gypsy Baron, Frederick Loewe’s My Fair Lady, Maury Yeston’s Phantom, and Katarzyna Gaertner’s Magic Ball. As assistant conductor, he prepared the premieres of Paderewski’s Manru, Prokofiev’s Cinderella, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Moniuszko’s Halka and Verbum Nobile. Since 2015 he has cooperated with the Lower Silesian Philharmonic in Jelenia Góra, notably producing an abridged concert version of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. His graduation concert in 2016 included preparing and conducting a premiere of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, directed by Roberto Skolmowski and performed by students of Wrocław’s Music Academy.
