Dobrzański, Tomasz

He completed clarinet studies with Mieczysław Stachura at Wrocław’s Music Academy, and studied recorder with Gabriel Garrido at the Conservatoire Populaire’s Early Music Centre in Geneva and with Michel Piguet at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. In Basel he also studied historical clarinet with Pierre-André Taillard. He plays Renaissance reed instruments, one-handed flutes, bagpipes, and citole. As the founder and artistic director of Ars Cantus ensemble from Wrocław, he researches early Silesian music and carries out recording projects. He teaches the recorder at Wrocław’s Music Academy and the State Secondary Music School in the same city. He collaborates with numerous ensembles and conducts masterclasses of early music interpretation. He also copies and reconstructs historical music instruments. Tomasz Dobrzański is the artistic director of the Forum Musicum festival in Wrocław.
