Molinari, Ernesto

Born 1956 in Lugano, Switzerland he studied the clarinet at the Music Academy in Basel and bass clarinet at the Amsterdam Conservatoire. Beside his activity as an interpreter of classical, romantic and contemporary repertoire, he also performs jazz and improvisation. Since 1994 he has lived in Vienna. His discography includes, among others, works by Olga Neuwirth: Spleen (on Accord), Construction in Space (Kairos), Todesraten (col legno) and Vampyrotheone (Kairos), Jean Barraqué (Clarinet Concerto, CPO), Emmanuel Nunes (machina mundi, Montaigne), Elliott Carter (ECM), Isabel Mundry (DMR / Wergo), Brian Ferneyhough, and many others. Between 1994 and 2005 he was member of the Klangforum Wien. He is a lecturer at the Bern University of the Arts.
