with a solid education, a string of awards and a growing international reputation, she is one of the most exciting performers to emerge in her field. Specialising in the performance of contemporary music on historical instruments, she appears as a soloist, with chamber music ensembles, in music theatre and multimedia productions, and has premiered numerous new compositions. She has also appeared at festivals and concert halls throughout Europe, including the Holland Festival and De Suite Muziekweek in Amsterdam, Musica Polonica Nova in Wrocław, Klangzeit in Münster, November Music in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Gaudeamus Music Week and Cross-Linx Festival in Utrecht, Progetto Musica in Rome, Polish Music Festival in Cracow, Cutting Edge Series in London, ICMC in Barcelona, Logos in Ghent, Procembalo in Parma, and Transit Festival. Pan-European appearances have brought Isphording to the attention of a variety of composers, her unique approach to the harpsichord sparkling numerous dedications and commissions. In recent years, she has premiered more then fifty solo and chamber music compositions and worked with composers in the electronic studios of STEIM Amsterdam and SARC Belfast. A passion for the careful interplay of apparently disparate forms has led Isphording to cofound the Roentgen Connection in 2001. Roentgen, the inventor of the X-ray, was the inspiration for an ensemble that sees through music to its core, liberating sounds from their material context, and combining historical flavour with contemporary ideals.
Born in Poland, Gośka Isphording studied harpsichord at the Music Academy in Cracow and graduated with honours in 1998. She continued her postgraduate studies with Patrick Ayrton at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, with Annelie de Man at the Amsterdam Conservatoire and Elżbieta Chojnacka in Salzburg. In 2003 she obtained a Master of Music in Contemporary Harpsichord.
She won the 1st Prize both as a soloist and in the duo category at the Krzysztof Penderecki International Competition of Contemporary Chamber Music in Cracow and was a finalist in the International Gaudeamus Interpreters’ Competition with her ensemble, the Roentgen Connection. Her solo CD with Polish harpsichord music, Per Clavicembalo Moderno, was released in 2008 on PWM and DUX. Currently she is professor of contemporary harpsichord at the Amsterdam Conservatoire.
