Bandinu, Omar

bassu singer from the Sardinian canto a tenores
The tenores singing is one of the more ancient ways of singing in the Mediterranean area, featured on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Scholars maintain that this traditional polyphony goes back 3000 years. Omar is one of the founders of the famous Tenores di Bitti “Mialinu Pira,” an ensemble that enjoys a special place amongst the many groups in Sardinia, with a style which is slightly less rough than that of other quartets—exemplary researchers in their heritage, impeccable executors with exceptional vocal quality, they have reached a level of excellence and of admiration which is without equal in Sardinia and in the whole world. The original drone, played by the singer in his original musical context, is ideally maintained also in REKA.
