This chamber orchestra consists of the most distinguished musicians associated with the China Conservatoire of Music in Beijing, China’s leading academic music institution. The orchestra regularly performs in China as well as at international festivals as part of the Oriental Express exchange programme organised by the Chinese Ministry of Culture, which took the orchestra to Brisbane, Canberra, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Auckland. In a masterly fashion the orchestra promotes Chinese music, which is usually described as difficult for the Western audience.
